Selected Biography

Goshawk, George Frederick Ÿ Born: Long Melford, Suffolk on 19.7.1893.[1]  Parents: George Henry Goshawk (Agricultural Labourer) and Elizabeth Caroline [née Bowers] (Horsehair Weaver).  Family Connections: Cousin of Harry William Bowers [b1882], Albert Edward Bowers [b1895], William Charles Bowers [b1897] and Bertie Fred Bowers [b1891]; also, nephew of Walter Bowers [b1871], Charles Bowers [b1873], Thomas Bowers [b1875] and Samuel Bowers [b1880].  Home: The Green, Long Melford (1901), Bridge Street, Long Melford (1911).  Occupation: Agricultural Labourer (1911).  Married: Maud Lucy Edwards in 1911.  Service Record: On 17.7.1918 Arthur Baldwin a 32-year-old baker, pleaded guilty to breaking into the house of George Goshawk and stealing a metal watch.  Baldwin was bound over for twelve months.  No definitive military record has been found for Goshawk.  Died: Alpheton, Suffolk and buried in Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford on 5.11.1918.[2]
