Forward Plan

What Happens Next?

The object of Long Melford Heritage Trust Limited is to advance the education of the public in the history of the Long Melford area by the provision of a permanent museum. Melford is a thriving area and there’s a lot of public interest in its heritage.

Although we love our current display space in a room in the Village Hall complex, we’ve sadly outgrown it. We are only able to show a glimpse of our collections which for the most part remain in storage. We urgently need a permanent home in the village that offers scope for the development of interactive and exciting exhibitions that do justice to the fascinating history of the area.

In the meantime, the Centre is still collecting artefacts, archive material and oral histories in line with the Trust’s collections development policy, with a focus on objects which have a clear and documented link to Long Melford.

Please contact us if you would like to support the development of a unique and permanent museum for Long Melford.

Becoming a ‘preferred outcome’ These two words mean a lot to us. We hope the foundation of a permanent home for Long Melford Heritage Centre acquires ‘preferred outcome’ status in Long Melford Parish Council’s planning framework for the village.

Forward Plan Under the Chair of Trustees, eight Trustees currently run the museum. In 2022, Long Melford Heritage trust adopted its new Forward Plan for 2022 – 2025. The plan sets out what the Trust hopes to achieve over the next three years and how it intends to achieve those things.
