A Time Machine Beneath Our Feet – Discover Long Melford’s Hidden Past
Last summer, we set out to explore what lies beneath Long Melford — and what we uncovered is extraordinary. Thanks to the support of a Suffolk County Council Cultural Grant, and the enthusiasm of our local and archaeological community, nearly twelve acres around the Football and Cricket Club grounds were surveyed in perfect conditions.
The results have revealed a remarkable window into our village’s prehistoric and Roman story — insights never seen before.
The findings are in — and they’re spectacular.
