Bamber

The Bamber family arrived in Long Melford in 1902 when Reverend Bamber became rector of Holy Trinity Church.

Bamber, Charles Trevor – Born: Southampton, Hampshire on 17.6.1897.[1]  Parents: Reverend Frederick Trevor Bamber [Rector of Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford] [see entry below] and Amelia Mary [née Henderson].  Home: Hungerford, Alexandra Road, Epsom, Surrey (1901), The Rectory, Long Melford (1911), Old Inn Cottage, Lymington, Hampshire (1939), Walhampton Cottage, Lymington [1955].  Occupation: Army Pensioner and ARP Motor Cyclist (1939).  Married: Gwynnedd Margaret Russell in 1934.  Service Record: Charles enlisted as Dvr.M2/190005 with the Mechanical Transport Section of the Army Service Corps.[2]  Died: Lymington Hospital, Lymington, Hants on 25.8.1955.[3]

Bamber, Miss Dorothy Trevor – Born: Epsom, Surrey on 30.12.1898[4]Parents: Reverend Frederick Trevor Bamber [Rector of Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford] [see entry below] and Amelia Mary [née Henderson].  Home: The Rectory, Long Melford [1917], Carmelite Convent, Crow Hill Drive, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire (1939).  Occupation: Carmelite Nun engaged in the manufacture of Altar Breads (1939).  Service Record: Miss Bamber acted as a canvasser during the 1917 Long Melford recruiting drive.  Died: Worthing, Sussex in 1980.

Bamber, Reverend Frederick Trevor [ma] – Born: Glasgow, Scotland in 1857.  Parents: Paterson Bamber 1815 and Louisa Catherine [née Donne].  Family Connections: Father of Dorothy Trevor Bamber [b1898] see entry above.  Home: The Rectory, Long Melford [1902 to 1922].  Occupation: Rector of Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford [1902 to 1922].  Married: Amelia Mary Henderson in 1889.  Service Record: Reverend Bamber was a member of the Long Melford War Memorial Committee in 1919.  Died: Long Melford, Suffolk on 22.5.1922.[5]

Bamber, Frederick Trevor – Born: Glasgow, Scotland on 31.1.1891.  Parents: Reverend Frederick Trevor Bamber [Rector of Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford] [see entry above] and Amelia Mary [née Henderson].  Home: 5 Broomhill Drive, Govan, Glasgow (1891), Hungerford, Alexandra Road, Epsom, Surrey (1901), The Rectory, Long Melford (1911), 61 Curzon Street, Westminster, London [1925] emigrated to Kenya.  Occupation: Ranch Owner in Kenya [1922].  Married: Hilda Edith Ogilvy in 1925.  Service Record: No definitive military record found.  Died: Nairobi, Kenya on 14.12.1942.[6]
