Selected Biographies

Green, Albert John Ÿ Born: Long Melford, Suffolk on 10.4.1891.[1]  Parents: William Green (Railway Gateman at Long Melford Level Crossing) and Emma [née Grimwood].  Home: Liston Crossing Gate, Liston Lane, Long Melford (1901), lodging at The Royal Eastern Counties Institution for Idiots, Imbeciles and the Feeble Minded, North Station Road, Colchester, Essex (1911), 91 Winnock Road, Colchester [1915], 116 Hythe Hill, Colchester [1916], 30 Dene Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk (1939), 104 Kennet Drive, Bletchley, Buckinghamshire [1966].  Occupation: Attendant at the Colchester Asylum (1911), Inland Revenue Clerk (1939).  Married: Dorothy May Piggott in 1920.  Service Record: Albert was conscripted on 9.12.1915 as Pte.83315 with ‘F’ Company, Royal Army Medical Corps, being discharged as medically unfit due to pulmonary tuberculosis on 19.6.1916.[2]  Died: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire on 6.5.1966.[3]

Green, Reginald Linton Ÿ Born: Colchester, Essex on 22.4.1896.[4]  Parents: Edward Charles Green of Long Melford (Brewer’s Manager) and Florence Mabel [née Clarke].  Home: East Stockwell Street, Colchester, Essex (1901, 1911), 278 Colchester Road, Ipswich, Suffolk (1939), 11 Bacton Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk [1983].  Occupation: Furniture Salesman and Special Constable (1939).  Married: Daisy May Humphrey in 1923.  Service Record: Reginald enlisted as Pte.82141 with the Royal Army Medical Corps.[5]  Died: Felixstowe, Suffolk in 1983.
