Selected Biography

Grimwood, Christopher George Ÿ Born: Yoxford, Suffolk on 13.4.1865.  Parent: Joseph Grimwood (Inspector of Police in Long Melford) and Emily [née Goodchild].  Home: Great Street, Yoxford, Suffolk (1871), Police Station, Hall Street, Long Melford (1881), Coast Guard Station, Park Road, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk (1901), Queens Road, Sutton-on-Sea, Lincolnshire (1911).  Occupation: Labourer at the Melford Flax Mill (1881), Coastguard Petty Officer (1901 to 1911).  Married: Jane Weatherhogg in 1898.  Service Record: Christopher enlisted at the age of twelve on 2.2.1885 as No.130887 with the Royal Navy.  He served throughout the First World War, receiving his discharge in 1919.[1] Died: South Shields, County Durham in 1919.
