Hayes, Frank Leslie – Born: Aldham, Essex on 5.5.1890.[1] Parents: Alfred Hayes (Police Constable) and Ellen [née Banks]. Home: Dovercourt, Essex (1901), Wherstead Park, Ipswich, Suffolk (1911), Post Office, Bulmer Street, Sudbury, Suffolk [1918], Hall Street, Long Melford (1939). Occupation: Footman (1911), Fitter’s Labourer [1918], Van Driver for a Fish and Fruit Merchant (1939). Married: Bella Newport in 1924. Service Record: Frank was conscripted on 2.1.1918 as Aircraft Mechanic No. 116379 with the Royal Flying Corps, transferring to the Royal Air Force on 1.4.1918. He was posted to No. 141 Squadron stationed at Biggin Hill from 11.8.1918 to 20.2.1919, being discharged in April 1920.[2] In 1939 he is recorded as a member of the Air Raid Precautions Squad in Long Melford. Died: Sudbury, Suffolk in 1951.
