MacKay

The Mackay family returned to England from India following the untimely death of the paterfamilias George Robert Aberigh-MacKay at the age of 33 in 1881. Mary, his widow, together with her four daughters eventually made their home at Falkland House in Long Melford shortly after the turn of the twentieth century.

Mackay, Miss Beatrice Georgina Aberigh – Born: Indore, Central India on 11.3.1878.[1]  Parents: George Robert Aberigh-MacKay [Professor of English Literature in Delhi] and Mary Anne Louisa [née Cherry].  Family Connection: Sister to Frances Lillian Arberigh-MacKay [b1875].  Home: Hurst Grove, Bedford, Bedfordshire (1891), 12 Enys Road, Eastbourne, Sussex (1901), Falkland House, The Green, Long Melford (1911), 2 Westgate Terrace, Westgate Street, Long Melford (1939).  Service Record: Miss Aberigh-Mackay was an enumerator during the National Registration in 1915 and a member of the Melford Women’s War Agricultural Committee from 1916.  Died: Sudbury, Suffolk in 1948.[2]

Mackay, Miss Frances Lillian Aberigh – Born: Delhi, India on 6.12.1875.[3]  Parents: George Robert Aberigh-MacKay [Professor of English Literature in Delhi] and Mary Anne Louisa [née Cherry].  Family Connection: Sister to Beatrice Georgina Arberigh-MacKay [b1878].  Home: Hurst Grove, Bedford, Bedfordshire (1891), Falkland House, The Green, Long Melford [1906 to 1926].  Occupation: Midwife [1906 to 1926].  Service Record: Miss Aberigh-Mackay was a qualified Midwife during the First World War.  Died: Sudbury, Suffolk in 1948.[4]
