Farrant, Arthur Stanley – Born: Colchester, Essex on 17.11.1894.[1]  Parents: Robert Arthur Farrant (Station Master at Clare, Suffolk) and Agnes Mary [née Peggs] of Long Melford, Suffolk.  Family Connections: Brother to Frank Harold Farrant [b1893] and Victor Horace Farrant [b1897].   Home: 6 Avenue Approach, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk (1901), Bridewell Street, Little Walsingham, Norfolk (1911), 70, Bridge House, South Street, Rochford, Essex (1921), 59 Shaftsbury Avenue, Dovercourt, Essex (1939) to [1976].  Occupation: Railway Booking Clerk (1911 to 1939).  Married: Doris Selina Richmond in 1921.  Service Record: Arthur was conscripted as Pte.53399 with 14th [Service] Battalion, Durham Light Infantry and posted to France from September 1915 as part of 18th Brigade, 6th Division, seeing action during the Somme Offensive of 1916.  He rose to the rank of Corporal and on 27.11.1917 was granted a commission as a Second Lieutenant attached to 10th [Service] Battalion, Essex Regiment.[2]  On 13.5.1918 he was wounded while in front-line trenches at Béhencourt in the Somme valley, it is not known if or when he returned to active service.  He retired from the Army in 1922.[3]  From 1939 Arthur Farrant was a member of the London and Northeast Railway’s Air Raid Precaution Squad.[4]  Died: Dovercourt, Essex on 19.8.1976.[5]

Farrant, Frank Harold – Born: Colchester, Essex on 4.6.1893.[6]  Parents: Robert Arthur Farrant (Station Master at Clare, Suffolk) and Agnes Mary [née Peggs] of Long Melford, Suffolk.  Family Connections: Brother to Arthur Stanley Farrant [b1894] and Victor Horace Farrant [b1897].   Home: 6 Avenue Approach, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk (1901), 11 Pelham Road, South Woodford, Essex (1921) to [1924].  Occupation: Railway Booking Clerk (1921).  Service Record: Frank enlisted in 1915 as Pte.06572 with the Army Service Corps, being posted to France from 24.5.1915.  He had risen to the rank of Lance Sergeant by the time of his discharge in September 1919.[7]  Died: South Woodford, Essex on 6.2.1924.[8]

Farrant, Victor Horace – Born: Braintree, Essex on 12.3.1897.[9]  Parents: Robert Arthur Farrant (Station Master at Clare, Suffolk) and Agnes Mary [née Peggs] of Long Melford, Suffolk.  Family Connections: Brother to Frank Harold Farrant [b1893] and Arthur Stanley Farrant [b1894].  Home: 6 Avenue Approach, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk (1901), Bridewell Street, Little Walsingham, Norfolk (1911), Station House, Harold Wood, Essex [1915], 100 Pulteney Road, South Woodford, Essex (1921), 39 Primrose Road, Wanstead, Essex [1926] to (1939).  Occupation: Motor Driver [1915], Metal Sawyer (1939).  Married: Egle Petronici in 1920.  Service Record: Victor was conscripted on 27.11.1915 as Pte.4507 with 30th (Service) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, shortly transferring as Gnr.139011 to the Royal Garrison Artillery’s 85th Heavy Artillery Group in France, qualifying in signalling and telephony in December 1916.  He received a compound fracture to his fibula while on active service, causing him to be issued with a Silver War Badge and discharged in July 1918.[10]  Died: Essex in 1960.
