Selected Biography

Sawyer, Frederick Thomas – Born: Herringswell, Suffolk on 17.5.1891.[1]  Parents: Frederick Sawyer (Coachman) and Hannah [née Elwood].  Home: The Green, Long Melford (1901), 47 Emlen Street, Ipswich, Suffolk [1915], 24 Riverside Road, Ipswich (1939).  Occupation: General Labourer and Ipswich Borough First Police Reserve (1939).  Married: Rachel Emma Woollard in 1913.  Service Record: Frederick enlisted on 14.6.1915 as Pte.3571 with 3/4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, transferring on 29.1.1917 to the Corps of Military Police, and being discharged in 1920.[2]  Died: Ipswich, Suffolk in 1968.

Notes – [1] 1939 Register.  [2] Soldiers’ Documents, First World War ‘Burnt Documents’ [WO 363] where he is recorded as Frederick Thomas Sawyer.
